Concert Reviews and Commentary:
REVIEW BY PETER THELEN

San Francisco's own Melting Euphoria, just back from their appearance at New York's Strange Days festival opened the gig - it was their second appearance at an Exposé Concert Series show. Their style, as before is a spirited instrumental space-rock, the kind that originated with bands like Hawkwind, Floyd and Gong, carried forward by younger bands like Ozric Tentacles and Farflung, with blazing synths and looping guitars and driving groove.

Led by bassist Anything Who, the group had no problem wearing their influences on their sleeve as they waded though an intense performance offset by their cover of Pink Floyd's 'Interstellar Overdrive.'

Haunted By Waters played their brand of eclectic fusion and world music, heavily influenced by exotic percussion and a strong Celtic based vocal presence by Cait McWhir. The diverse mix of elements in their sound (multi-guitar, bass, keys, hand drums, bodhran, tin whistles, didgeridoo, etc.) make them hard to categorize, but this was a plus as they performed a ninety minute set full of rock elements (mostly from lead electric guitar and keyboards) and all out tribal rhythms, focusing on a single groove for an entire song. The crowd was distinctly appreciative. End of text
